How to
get to the DZ
The Drop Zone at Hovby Airfield is located
3 kilometres south of the town Lidköping, which is situated by Lake
Vänern, 110 kilometres northeast of Gothenburg.
Note: Don´t confuse the town Lidköping with the town
Linköping. Linköping is a completely different city in Sweden about 200
kilometers away! (Yes - at least 1 skydiver go there by mistake every
boogie :)
There are several ways to get to Sweden and
Hovby DZ.
The easiest way is to fly
into Göteborg and from there take either train, bus or rental car to
Lidköping. There are daily
departures to Gothenburg from all major cities in Europe.
Flight
There are two airports in the Gothenburg area; Landvetter
Airport is the main and big airport about 20 minutes from Gothenburg
and there is also Gothenburg City Airport (Säve), which is 10 minutes from
the city centre. Säve is one of our clubs two home drop zones and is the
destination for Ryan Air who has several routes from many European
cities, really low-priced! As the Hercules Boogie is outside the town of
Lidköping it really doesn’t matter which one you fly to, as Lidköping is
110 kilometres from Gothenburg.
Unfortunately there are no
international or domestic flights to Hovby Airfield (Lidköping). If you
intend to fly to Hovby Airfield in your own aircraft, you need to inform
the airport in advanced!!
Car/Train/Bus
If you arrive by car, take road E20 from Gothenburg
towards Stockholm. About 100 kilometres from Gothenburg turn left at
village Jung, follow the signs to Lidköping (airport). As you advance, the
drop zone can be seen on your right-hand side.
You can also reach Lidköping by train or bus. When you
arrive to Lidköping, give us a call on the Hercules Boogie phone and we’ll
arrange a pickup to Hovby DZ for you.
Ferries
There are several ferry routes to Gothenburg from the UK,
Germany and Denmark. You can also cross the bridge between Copenhagen and
Malmö and then go by car, train or bus to Hovby Airfield.
